Trial of Azibaola Robert, cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was stalled on Thursday, as witness was unavoidably absent in court to continue

The trial of Azibaola Robert, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was stalled on Thursday, October 6, 2016 as the PW2, Olabode Farinuola was unavoidably absent in court to continue his testimony.

Azibaola, his wife, Stella and their company, One Plus Holdings, are standing trial on a 7-count charge of money laundering, criminal breach of trust and corruption.

The charges were brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], before Justice Nnamdi O. Dimgba of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja.

The defendants were alleged to have diverted $40 million (forty million US dollars) purportedly meant for the supply of Tactical Communication Kits for Special Forces.

The fund was transferred from the Account of the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, with the Central Bank of Nigeria to the domiciliary account of their company, One Plus Holdings.
