Afrobeats star Davido has revealed a surprising reason the planned music video for his song “Holy Ground” featuring Nicki Minaj was never filmed.
Davido said he had to contact someone within his 30BG camp and ask members to calm down after some fans reportedly went into the DMs of Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby to attack them.
According to the singer, the situation eventually reached Nicki, who personally called him.
Davido explained that the incident affected his relationship with Nicki at the time and contributed to the pair being unable to shoot the video for their collaboration.
Despite the setback, “Holy Ground” became a major success. The song, released on Davido’s A Better Time album, reached No. 1 on Nigeria’s chart, making Nicki Minaj the first international artist to top the chart.
Davido’s revelation has now sparked fresh reactions online, with fans debating how aggressive fanbase rivalries can sometimes affect artists and their collaborations.
