‎Death Of Deputy Speaker’s Aide Triggers Protest By Legislative Aides

The death of an aide t Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Bioddun Hassan over failure to pay N165,000 medical bill triggered protest by legislative aides who complained poor condition of welfare package. Hassan died on Saturday in Hospital due to failure to pay N165,000 to operate his appendicitis . 

while he was waiting for the payment of his salary his condition degenerated and appendicitis ruptured.‎ ‎ Addressing Journalists, the spokesman of the aggrieved legislative aides, Dayo Fadugba said,”‎are here today to mourn the untimely and unfortunate death of one of our colleagues, Hassan Abiodun. 

Even as we mourn, we see‎ clearly that his death may have been averted. Hassan died on Saturday June 10, 2017 while waiting for salary to operate his appendicitis. “While he hoped, his condition degenerated and the appendicitis ruptured. 

Hassan is a victim of a flawed and unjust system. “Specifically, our primary grouse is the failure of management to pay our salaries and entitlements, today is Tuesday, 13th day of June, our may salaries was just paid yesterday after we embarked on a blockade of the Sun trust Bank yesterday. 

“This administration, is occasioned partly by the CNA unilateral decision to domicile salary account with mushroom and unknown financial institution know have capacity and infrastructure to handle the volume of transaction the CNA has foisted on them. 

“Indeed, we are convinced that the decision of domicile our salaries with Sun Trust Bank is motivated by Ulterior motive aimed at bolstering the financial standing of the micro finance bank masquerading as a commercial institution” ‎

In related development, Senate President, Bukola Saraki has summoned National Assembly management over nonpayment of allowance due to legislative aides. Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the ‎annual budget of legislative aides is N9 billion, and since 2015 Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) for the legislative aides have not been paid.
