Declare Obi winner of presidential poll, LP national youth leader tells INEC

The National Youth leader of the Labour Party, Kennedy Ahanotu, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi as the president-elect.

Ahanotu made the call in a statement which a copy was made available to News Band Newspaper.

While berating INEC for not respecting the provisions of the Electoral Act, he directed the electoral umpire to suspend collation of results as the whole figures do not reflect the votes cast by Nigerians.

The statement reads, “Greetings Obidient Nigerians

“Let me officially thank you my fellow Obideients and Useful Nigerian Youths for turning out en-mass to excercise your franchise by voting our Labour Party Presidential Candidate His Excellency Mr Peter Obi whose candidacy restored hope, strength and belief in democracy.

“Thank you for your massive votes to the Labour Party.

“It’s no longer news that the election that was conducted on 25th Febreuary, 2023 is marred by massive irregularities; and could not just be regarded as a political disappointment but has consequentially endengered Nigeria democracy. An election where the electoral umpire INEC deliberately refused to respect their establishment Act, the ”Electoral Act 2022”. An election where the people’s popular choice at the various polling units across Nigeria is under serious jeopardy. An election that even some key observers have complained about its process.

“It is now obvious to us that some unscrupulous elements hiding under the electoral umpire and in visible partnership with the electoral umpire INEC have concluded to derail our growing democracy. This is unacceptable.

“The results being announced does not reflect and correspond with the results of the votes cast by Nigerians at their various polling units.

“We hereby demand

“That His Excellency Mr Peter Obi be declared the winner of 2023 Presidential Election and be returned as elected with the popular demand principle.

“That further collation of the various state election result in the International Conference Center ICC be suspended henceforth without same result being uploaded or readily available on the INEC IREV platform.

“That the already announced Ekiti State result be revisited and dully verified before final collation. Very important

“Temporarily, I want to beg all Obideients to remain focused and issue based despite this level of provocation because our victory is certain.”
