Former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah David Jang, has dismissed reports claiming he called for the resignation of Governor Caleb Muftwang, following his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Jang who in a statement issued by his media consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, said he was quoted out of context.
He said at no time during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did he call for Mutfwang’s resignation.
According to him, he only criticized politicians for leaving their parties to join others.
The statement reads: “The attention of Senator Dr. Jonah David Jang has been drawn to a misleading report in some print and online media outlets.
“The report attempts to portray him as calling on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to resign following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“For clarity, Senator Jang’s remarks were quoted out of context. At no time during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did he call for Governor Mutfwang’s resignation. Rather, he criticized politicians for leaving their parties to join others.
“The former governor therefore calls on the people of Plateau State to disregard the report and continue supporting Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who continues to lead the state under the people’s mandate.”
