Defence c’tee visits Al-Makura over farmers/ herdsmen clashes

Governor Tanko Al-Makura

The Defence Headquarters [DHQ] has decided to arise to the situation brought about by the raging herdsmen menace.

To that end, DHQ has despatched a fact finding committee to Nasarawa State in the north central part of Nigeria.

The committee is meant to liaise with Governor Tanko Al-Makura over the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the region.

The Committee is constituted by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Abayomi Olonishakin [above].

They are to investigate the causes of farmers versus herdsmen clashes in affected states and the way the military can come in.

The Chairman of the Committee is Major General Edward Nze, who is also the Director Of Communications, Defence Headquarters.

According to him, the Defence Chief is worried about the turn the clash has taken.

He said the army is poised to co-ordinate the activities of security personnel to put an end to the menace.

Governor Al-Makura welcomed them, expressed appreciation for the visit and expressed beliefs that all hands must be on deck to curb the swelling menace.
