Following the Appeal court tribunal ruling in Benin last Saturday 19th December, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa [above] yesterday summoned his Attorney-General, Barr Peter Mrakpor and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC legal officer Barr Sam Adeyemi, to a meeting.
It was gathered that Okowa who was jittery over the sack of Ighoyota Amori, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senator from Delta central told Adeyemi to let him know how Ovie Omo-Agege, can be stopped from being sworn in as directed by the Appeal court.
It was further learnt that Barr Adeyemi advised him to get a court injunction for Amori, restraining INEC from issuing a certificate of returns to Ovie Omo-Agege.
Sources in government house quoted Adeyemi to have said: ”Without the certificate of returns, Ovie cannot be sworn in as a Senator, so I advised you get court injunction.”
Barr Adeyemi was given 10 million naira to assist while the Attorney-General has been fully mobilised to swing into action this morning to get the injunction.
