Delta Gov’s aide, Love Shimite, dies from alleged poisoning

Shock enveloped Delta State as Chief Love Shimite died mysteriously on Monday April 21, 2025.
Shimite served as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s Special Adviser on Trade and Export.
Family sources allege she died from poisoning at her residence in Asaba.
Her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, was arrested following her sudden death.
Witnesses say Shimite foamed at the mouth before being rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba.
Doctors confirmed her dead on arrival at the hospital, causing panic among relatives.
Family members say she was in perfect health a day before her death.
A source said, “She was vibrant and spoke with me for over an hour on Saturday.”
Concern grew after she failed to respond to Easter greetings from loved ones.
Her maid allegedly called Shimite’s brother, reporting she was locked indoors by her husband.
He rushed to the house and found her unconscious with foam in her mouth.
She was taken to hospital immediately, but efforts to save her failed.
Police were called and arrested her husband at the scene for questioning.
Relatives allege the husband isolated her and controlled all her movements.
They claimed he barred her from work and changed property documents to his name.
Shimite previously served as Executive Secretary of Delta MSME Agency under Governor Okowa.
She was also President of the Quintessential Group, focused on agriculture and solid minerals.
She contested the Oshimili North Assembly seat in the 2023 PDP primaries.
Family members believe her husband manipulated and possibly hypnotised her.
Sources close to the family describe him as possessive and controlling.
Attempts to reach Police PRO SP Bright Edafe failed as his line was unreachable.
Her remains have been deposited in the mortuary as investigations continue.
