A security operation in Abraka, Delta State, targeted criminal elements terrorizing the community.

Police officers, along with local hunters, vigilantes, and anti-cult volunteers, actively engaged suspected kidnappers in a fierce gun battle during the early hours of June 4, 2025.

This operation successfully disrupted the activities of the criminals, providing relief to residents and strengthening community safety.

The operation resulted in four suspects being fatally wounded while attempting to resist arrest.

The successful raid followed credible intelligence reports about a kidnapping gang operating along the Abraka Railway axis.Acting swiftly, security forces stormed the criminals’ hideout around 3:00 a.m., responding immediately to critical intelligence.
During the intense gunfire exchange, several suspects escaped, possibly injured, while authorities eliminated four others on the scene.
Authorities confirmed that they recovered significant evidence, including an AK-47 rifle and thirteen rounds of live ammunition.
Investigators identified one deceased suspect as the gang’s leader based on a recent kidnapping victim’s recognition, offering a vital clue.
This breakthrough has significantly disrupted the criminal network’s operations in the area, hindering their future activities effectively.
