British heavyweight Dillian Whyte has withdrawn from his October 30 fight with Otto Wallin with a shoulder injury.
Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) was scheduled to defend his WBC interim heavyweight title against the Swedish challenger Wallin (22-1, 14 KOs).
The winner of the bout had slated to fight WBC champion Tyson Fury, who knocked out Deontay Wilder in the final fight of their trilogy earlier this month.
The show will go ahead with the Super-Lightweight unification matchup between Chantelle Cameron and Mary McGee now topping the bill.
Whyte said in a statement: “I am devastated as I had a great camp, was in great shape, and had great sparring. I was looking forward to knocking Wallin out and would have done so in the first half of the fight.
“I am devastated about not being able to fight on October 30 but I want to thank everyone for all of their support.”
His promoter Eddie Hearn added: “Dillian carried this injury for the last couple of weeks but it worsened in sparring on Monday night and it was impossible for him to continue.”
Whyte’s doctor Harjinder Singh confirmed that there were no “enduring concerns” over the injury.
