A dispatch rider in Lagos has raised concerns over an alleged delay in the collection of his Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) at the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, said he first visited the Eti-Osa LGA office last month to collect his PVC but was informed that the card was not yet ready.
According to him, officials asked him to return the following month.
He said he returned more than a month later, only to be informed that PVCs were still not being distributed at the centre.
“Last month, I went to Eti-Osa LGA in Lagos to request for my Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). I was told it was not ready and that I should come back the following month.
“I returned today, more than a month later, only to be told that they are still not distributing the PVCs. I don’t know what INEC and APC are doing. Nigerians should not keep quiet about this,” he said.
His complaint comes as preparations continue for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. INEC’s current election calendar lists the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
INEC has also stated that registered voters who have not received their PVCs can use its official voter portal to check the status of their cards and find their designated collection locations.
The electoral commission’s guidelines state that PVC collection is handled at designated INEC offices or collection centres and that eligible voters are required to collect their cards in person.
The dispatch rider’s account, however, raises questions about the availability and distribution of PVCs at the particular Eti-Osa location he visited.
His reference to the All Progressives Congress (APC) also brings a political element to his complaint, although his account does not establish that the party is responsible for the reported delay. INEC is the independent constitutional body responsible for organising elections and managing voter registration and PVC-related processes.
As the 2027 elections approach, timely access to voter cards remains an important issue for registered voters who need to confirm their details and ensure they can participate in the electoral process.
The specific circumstances surrounding the alleged delay at the Eti-Osa office, including whether the man’s PVC has been produced and when collection will resume at that location, were not independently established from the information available.
