Dortmund parts ways with Nurin Sahin

Borussia Dortmund dismissed manager Nuri Sahin following a disappointing season.

The decision came after a 2-1 Champions League loss to Bologna, marking Sahin’s tenure of just over six months. Currently, Dortmund ranks 10th in the Bundesliga and 13th in the Champions League, struggling to regain form.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Lars Ricken, expressed regret over the decision.

He stated, “We valued Nuri Sahin’s contributions and hoped for a long-term collaboration.”

However, with only one win in the last nine matches and four consecutive defeats, the club lost faith in achieving their goals.

Ricken emphasized that this decision was painful but necessary.

After the match, the team learned of the decision at their hotel in Italy.

Sahin and his staff left separately while players returned to Germany.

As Dortmund seeks a new manager, Erik ten Hag, the former Manchester United boss, is a potential candidate.

Ten Hag’s hiring hinges on his severance pay clearance from United.

Dortmund faces a crucial match against Werder Bremen this Saturday.

The team aims to break their four-match losing streak and regain momentum in the Bundesliga.
