The Federal High Court in Abuja has shifted Nnamdi Kanu’s trial to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters.
Justice James Omotosho gave the order on grounds of national security and evidence inspection.
The trial no longer holds in the usual Federal High Court premises in Abuja.
Security concerns and sensitive evidence triggered the relocation of the trial to a more controlled environment.
Justice Omotosho said Kanu must face trial where the court can examine all material evidence.
The judge noted that Kanu imported a container into Nigeria which is now under legal scrutiny.
He said the container allegedly carried a radio transmitter used to power broadcasts on Radio Biafra.
The DSS headquarters will now serve as the venue for all proceedings related to the terrorism case.
Officials said the court must inspect the said container directly to ensure transparency and fairness.
Security operatives reportedly intercepted the transmitter shortly after it entered Nigerian territory.
Authorities linked the device to Kanu’s campaign for Biafra through Radio Biafra.
Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), faces terrorism-related charges in court.
The Federal Government accused him of inciting violence and encouraging secessionist movements.
The DSS now holds him in custody under tight surveillance and maximum security.
The IPOB leader has denied all charges and insists on his right to self-determination.
Supporters of Kanu argue that he fights for justice, not terror.
They continue to call for his unconditional release and insist he faces political persecution.
Court observers say the shift in venue signals a new phase in Kanu’s prolonged trial.
Legal experts believe the court wants to streamline access to sensitive evidence like the container.
No date has been fixed yet for the inspection of the alleged transmitter container.
The court is expected to give further directives as proceedings unfold at the DSS base.
