A commercial tricycle, popularly known as a “keke,” was reportedly involved in a road accident with a Toyota Corolla on Saturday in Abagana, Anambra State, leaving several persons injured.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the incident was triggered by a disturbance inside the moving tricycle.
The rider was conveying a passenger believed to be under the influence of hard drugs when the situation escalated into a physical altercation.
The struggle, which occurred while the vehicle was in motion, is said to have distracted the operator, causing him to lose control.
The tricycle subsequently rammed into the rear of a Toyota Corolla.
Sources at the scene said the passenger attempted to flee immediately after the crash but was swiftly apprehended by members of a local vigilante group.
Although no fatalities were recorded, the rider and other affected individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries.
They were promptly evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
As of the time of this report, authorities have yet to issue an official statement.
However, investigations are expected to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
