Dubois drops Jarrell Miller in heavyweight bout

Daniel Dubois has just made heavyweight boxing history by becoming the first man ever to score a stoppage win over Jarrell Miller. He scored the win in round 10, knocking out ‘Big Baby’ in the dying seconds of the bout.

The victory wasn’t just the first stoppage loss in Miller’s career but also his first-ever defeat period.

The win was Dubois’ first since his recent defeat against unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and represents a turn in fortune for the Englishman.

Dubois piled up an early lead and then let his hands go in the final round. He repeatedly rock Miller to force the stoppage at 2:52 of round ten in their heavyweight grudge match Saturday at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“I had to finish strong,” Dubois insisted of the desire to end the fight inside the distance when a decision win was easily within reach

Miller enjoyed his best round of the fight to that point in the fourth. The oversized American crashed home a left hook after a right uppercut to test the chin of Dubois, who took the blow but failed to offer return fire after he enjoyed previous success with a shotgun jab.

However, Dubois turned the tide back in his favor at the start of round five. The left hook and jab were on point, though Miller was not without his moments when his forward charge provided opportunities for his right hands at close quarters.

The ninth saw Dubois come out landing big hooks on Miller. It appeared that Miller was exhausted and was taking punches to the head and body.

The tenth had Dubois hitting and moving. Miller had little left in the tank, but continued to come forward. Dubois shook him with several big punches, had him in serious trouble and blasted him against the ropes for a stoppage win.
