…Describes Federated Ebonyi Women Organization as fake
The Ebonyi State government has described the reported attack on some group of women holding August meeting by Ebubeagu security organization, as a calculated attempt to score cheap political gains by the opposition elements in the state.
It also exonerated Ebubeagu security organization from the alleged attack, adding that the security outfit was established by the law and will continue to operate in line with the extant laws.
The commissioner for Information, Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna in a statement which a copy was made available to News Band, said that the listed 17 women groups purportedly attacked and the aegis under which they operate revealed that the said Federated Ebonyi Women Organization headed by one Mrs. Charity Chukwuemeka as President-General is not only fake, but also a scam.
The statement reads, “The attention of Ebonyi State Government has been drawn to a trending report of a melodrama depicting an imaginary scene of women in August meeting purportedly attacked while holding their 2022 August meeting at People’s Club Hall Abakaliki dated 20th August, 2022.
“For the records, the scenario was a crafty plot unwittingly designed by a coalition of clueless and crumbling opposition elements and executed by a hired group under the aegis of a faceless organization which has no material foundational bearings in the State’s structure of the established women organizations and which hide under the cloak of women organization to covet sympathy from the gullible using sensations of gender -based violence. The report on violent attack on groups of women in Abakaliki is not only a calculation to serve cheap political gains but also a failed plot to pitch the State Government against organized women groups who have been great partners in our women development programmes.
“Our wonderful Ebonyi women including those that returned from other parts of the country have been holding their August meetings in the various Local Government Areas and other locations of their choice in the State and have taken exception to the claims of these conscienceless villains desperate in acts of character assassination and who have been procured to blackmail the person of the gender friendly Governor of Ebonyi State and accomplisher of 35% affirmative action, His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE, FNATE.
“We have further perused through the listed 17 women groups purportedly attacked and the aegis under which they operate and our findings revealed that the said Federated Ebonyi Women Organization headed by one Mrs. Charity Chukwuemeka as President-General is not only fake, but also a scam. We challenge the impostors to show evidence that the said Federated Ebonyi Women organization exists or operates anywhere in Ebonyi State. The same opposition elements, in fear of the sweeping and expansive domination of APC in Ebonyi State, have continued to dissipate energy and resources in sponsoring false and malicious publications through faceless feministic organizations such as Federated Ebonyi Women Organization and Womanifesto against the person of the Governor over the good riddance of the membership of Mrs. Ann Agom-Eze from APC which is a constitutional exercise done in good faith by the Party in her Ward. We join no issues with such ethically compromised organizations.
“For the alleged attack on women in August meeting, we absorb the men and officers of Ebubeagu Security outfit of the allegation of violent attack on women as circulated in some social media platforms. Ebubeagu Security outfit is an outfit founded by Law and guided by the best security practices and rules of engagement. Ebubeagu Security outfit in Ebonyi State shall continue to operate within the confines of the legislative framework that established it. So far it has been applauded by all residents of Ebonyi State for making Ebonyi the safest State in South East.
“We therefore urge members of the public especially our wonderful women to discountenance the trending report as a last resort of political propaganda by the sinking opposition forces in the State.”
