(DDM) – The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Hon. Valentine Asun following allegations of blackmail and internal sabotage.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the decision was taken during an emergency meeting in Benin City as party leaders moved to address escalating internal disputes.
Allegations Of Smear Campaigns Against Party Leadership
Party officials alleged that Asun was involved in orchestrating smear campaigns and attacks directed at the State Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah.
The alleged misconduct, according to sources, had generated concerns about factional tensions within the party, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
Suspension Pending Committee Review
The suspension, described by the APC leadership as a preventive measure, will remain in effect until a disciplinary committee concludes its investigation.
The committee has been tasked with examining all available evidence and making recommendations on further sanctions where necessary.
Protecting Party Integrity Amid Political Tensions
Party leaders stressed that the action was necessary to maintain unity, protect the integrity of the party, and restore public confidence in its internal structures.
They also noted that disciplinary measures would be applied fairly to ensure that no member undermines the party’s objectives without accountability.
Background Of Internal Crisis
The suspension comes amid growing political activity across Edo State, with party factions maneuvering ahead of upcoming primaries and leadership restructuring.
Observers believe the latest action is aimed at curbing divisive tendencies and reinforcing discipline as the APC prepares to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
