EFCC arrests 98 suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu, Kwara

The EFCC intensified its crackdown on cybercrime by arresting 98 suspected internet fraudsters through coordinated operations in Enugu and Kwara.

Based on verified intelligence, operatives from both zones carried out well-planned sting operations on May 8, 2025.

These operations targeted notorious cybercrime hotspots in their respective states.

In Enugu, the agency’s operatives stormed the upscale Premier Layout neighborhood, apprehending 51 suspects, including 48 males and 3 females.

During the raid, investigators uncovered significant evidence, including 18 luxury vehicles, high-end laptops, and numerous sophisticated mobile phones believed to be acquired through fraudulent online activities.

The Ilorin Zonal Command actively conducted targeted raids in various Kwara State locations, including Awolowo Road, Tanke, Harmony Estate, Ganmo, and Amoyo.

As a result, they arrested 47 suspects and recovered valuable items such as 10 exotic cars, 74 premium mobile devices, 18 laptops, and a motorcycle allegedly used for criminal activities.

These operations aimed to disrupt criminal networks and recover stolen property effectively.

The EFCC spokesperson confirmed that these arrests followed months of surveillance and digital forensic investigations connecting suspects to various internet fraud schemes.

The spokesperson stated that we have concrete evidence connecting these individuals to sophisticated online financial crimes.
This evidence targets both local and international victims, illustrating the severity of their offenses.
Furthermore, the spokesperson emphasized that once investigations conclude, all suspects will face arraignment without delay.

The commission reaffirmed its strong dedication to cleaning Nigeria’s cyberspace and safeguarding citizens from financial predators.
