The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command for alleged theft of missing items. This action is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to eliminate corrupt tendencies within the organization.
Last week, the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, directed the arrest of the officers.
They are currently answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for.
Investigators are making significant progress in the case.
Internal disciplinary processes will hold those found culpable accountable.
The EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the detentions in a statement on Wednesday. He emphasized the commission’s commitment to maintaining transparency and integrity.
This development follows the recent dismissal of 27 officers from the EFCC for fraudulent activities and misconduct. The dismissals were based on recommendations from the EFCC’s Staff Disciplinary Committee.
The EFCC’s actions underscore its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and its dedication to upholding the rule of law.
The commission is dedicated to eliminating any elements that compromise its mission.
Mr. Olukoyede emphasized the importance of internal accountability within the EFCC.
He warned that no officer is immune to disciplinary measures and assured that the authorities will thoroughly investigate all allegations.
The EFCC continues to urge the public to provide any information that could assist in the fight against corruption. The commission remains steadfast in its mission to combat financial crimes and ensure justice.
