EFCC launches investigation into 24 suspects arrested for cybercrime in Ghana

Lagos, Nigeria – April 28, 2025 – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun probing 24 Nigerian youths arrested in Ghana for alleged cybercrime.

Authorities transferred the suspects from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on April 28, 2025.

Earlier, on April 17, 2025, Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) arrested them during a raid in Kumsark Estate, Oyarifa, Accra.

Subsequently, officials repatriated them alongside 207 trafficking victims on April 25, 2025.

Additionally, she linked some activities to broader cybercrime networks.

Moreover, Agboko praised the collaboration between NAPTIP and the EFCC, calling it vital in combating trafficking and cybercrime.

She referenced a 2022 case where four fraudsters were convicted, highlighting past successes.
