Egbetokun decorates newly promoted senior Police officers

On February 20, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, celebrated a momentous occasion.

During the ceremony, he officially decorated 19 senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force with their newly promoted ranks.

This event represents a significant milestone, especially with three Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

This achievement highlighted their dedication and exceptional service within the force.

The newly decorated AIGs are AIG Garba Ahmed, AIG Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo, and AIG Salman Garba Dogo.

In addition, 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioner of Police (CP). Among those honored were CP Cyriacus Enechukwu, CP Gombit Bangs, CP Rosemary Akpan, and CP Ayodele Adeyemi.

The event drew numerous dignitaries, including Prince Ma Sani-Omolori, former Clerk to the National Assembly, and Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission.

Additionally, retired DIG Valentine Ntomchukwu attended, accompanied by the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior officers, and families of the promotees.

In his address, IGP Egbetokun commended the newly promoted officers for their commitment and professionalism. He emphasized their critical roles in enhancing national security and encouraged them to uphold the Rule of Law. Furthermore, he urged them to utilize their expertise to foster a safer Nigeria.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to enhancing security and fostering national development,” the IGP declared. He further encouraged the officers to exemplify integrity, accountability, and service excellence in their new positions.

The ceremony concluded with the pinning of ranks and group photographs, as family and colleagues celebrated the officers’ achievements. These promotions are expected to strengthen the Force’s leadership structure and improve its efficiency in tackling security challenges nationwide.
