The Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the Anambra State Police Command to investigate further the falsified University Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations (UTME) result of Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme.
This was contained in a press release issued by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Okelo Madukaife, at Ogidi, Anambra State, on Saturday, entitled “Police should investigate UTME results falsification further”.
Mr. Madukaife made the call following the Anambra State Government Committee report on Miss Ejikeme’s JAMB score controversy.
The Committee had revealed that Ejikeme falsified the result which saw her emerge best student.
Reacting to the revelation, Madukaife stated:
“Emerging facts from the findings of an fact-finding committee set up by Anambra State Government on the alleged falsification of University Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations (UTME) 2023 results by one Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme a 19-year old student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, has left our dynamic chapter in shock.

“As a chapter in a party of due process, we condemn this avoidable act by someone whose marks are good enough to be admitted into many Nigerian universities.
“As Nigerian citizens of Anambra State extraction, we rise in defence of our states high academic profile on which no pall can be cast by criminality of a nature yet undeciphered, in which Mmesoma may only represent an expendable pun in a complex chess game.
“We ask : Who and who has succeeded in this type of game and in what parts of Nigeria, undetected?
“Consequently, we agree on the recommendation of the panel that the culprit should apologise publicly , in writing to Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and ,be subjected to counselling.
“But we do not agree that Government should stop at those.
“This matter should be handed over to the Police and investigated by a special squad set up by the Acting Inspector General of Police to unravel all other culprits in hiding by probing every aspect, every stage and every person in the process that led to this contravention.
“All offenders should be prosecuted in a timely and transparent trial, and those found guilty should be [sanctioned accordingly].
“JAMB should internalise the fallout of the trial to plug any loophole that has made it possible for families, communities, and the nation to be so fooled.”
Madukaife, finally appealed to youth in Anambra State and Nigeria to reinvest their energies in self-confidence and fair competition and uphold these national values. Read more.
