Ekiti Police command detains officer accused of stabbing civilian

Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State – April 12, 2025 – The Ekiti State Police Command has detained an officer after he allegedly stabbed a civilian during a domestic dispute in Ise-Ekiti.

Notably, the altercation began when the officer’s girlfriend clashed with the victim’s son, sparking tensions.

Consequently, the situation escalated, drawing widespread public attention.

According to reports, the officer and a colleague visited the victim’s home to confront the son about the earlier disagreement.

However, the confrontation turned violent, resulting in the victim being stabbed in the palm.

Meanwhile, the victim’s daughter shared her account in a viral video, expressing her family’s distress.

“They came for my brother, but my father was hurt instead,” she explained, emphasizing the emotional impact.

In response, the Ekiti State Police Command acted swiftly. SP Abutu Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed that Commissioner Joseph Eribo directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police to oversee the case.We will ensure a thorough investigation,” he asserted, underscoring their commitment to justice. Additionally, the command urged the public, especially the victim’s family, to remain calm during the probe.

This incident has reignited concerns about police conduct, with many demanding greater accountability. Nevertheless, the police have reassured the community of their dedication to justice and transparency. As the investigation continues, further updates will be provided to ensure public trust.
