Electronic transmission is here to stay, INEC dismisses manual results collation reports
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports that it would adopt a manual collation of results during the 2023 general elections.
INEC made the clarification in a statement issued by its National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Barr. Festus Okoye.
Barr. Okoye made the statement in response to reports that INEC had abandoned the electronic transmission of results and reverted to the manual process ahead of the 2023 election.
Responding on Sunday, Okoye said the report was false and reassured Nigerians that electronic transmission is here to stay.
He noted that electronic transmission adds to the credibility and transparency of the process as citizens follow polling unit level results on the INEC INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal on real-time on election day.
