Elon Musk has officially unveiled Grokipedia v0.1, an AI-powered encyclopedia developed by his company, xAI, as a modern alternative to Wikipedia.
While announcing the launch early Tuesday on X, Musk described Grokipedia as a revolutionary platform that uses xAI’s Grok AI to generate, verify, and update content in real time.
He claimed that even in its beta phase, Grokipedia outperforms Wikipedia in accuracy and depth, stating: “Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1, it’s better than Wikipedia imo.”
The platform, now live with over 885,000 AI-generated articles, allows users to search topics through a clean, minimalist interface.
It also integrates real-time data from X, leveraging Grok AI’s ability to synthesize and adapt information rapidly.
Musk emphasized the project’s commitment to truth, saying: “The goal of Grok and (link unavailable) is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal.”
Despite its ambitious debut, Grokipedia faced some early technical challenges, briefly crashing due to heavy traffic shortly after launch.
The platform also draws on content from Wikipedia under a Creative Commons license, with Musk promising to eliminate perceived biases through AI-driven rewrites.
This approach, he hinted, aims to create a more objective and evidence-based source of information.
