Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya is dead
The Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya, has died at the age of 88.
He reportedly kicked the bucket in the wee hours of Sunday at Expert Alliance Hospital in Kano after long battle with ill health.
The secretary of the Emirate, Mr Usman Sule, confirmed the death in a statement.
Danyaya’s death comes just two days after he returned from a medical trip to Mecca on August 22.
A funeral prayer for the late Emir is scheduled to take place at his palace in Ningi at 4pm today.
Yunusa Danyaya, who ascended to the throne in 1978, was a prominent traditional ruler in Bauchi State.
His tenure was marked by significant advancements in both social and economic aspects of the emirate.
Born in Ningi in 1936, Danyaya’s educational background includes Ningi Elementary School (1941-1946), Bauchi Middle School (1946-1951), the School of Hygiene in Kano (1951), and a year-long Public Administration course at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1956-1957).
