The Emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya, has died at the age of 88.

He reportedly kicked the bucket in the wee hours of Sunday at Expert Alliance Hospital in Kano after long battle with ill health.

The secretary of the Emirate, Mr Usman Sule, confirmed the death in a statement.

Danyaya’s death comes just two days after he returned from a medical trip to Mecca on August 22.

A funeral prayer for the late Emir is scheduled to take place at his palace in Ningi at 4pm today.
