Enugu Police deploy robust strategies for democracy day

Enugu, June 12, 2025 – The Enugu State Police Command has implemented robust strategies to ensure public safety during the upcoming Democracy Day celebrations. Commissioner of Police (CP) Mamman Bitrus Giwa spearheaded these measures, emphasizing proactive policing and community cooperation. According to SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s spokesperson, these steps aim to create a secure environment for residents.
During a high-level meeting, CP Giwa instructed senior officers to deploy personnel effectively across the state. He stressed the need for professionalism and accountability, particularly in high-risk areas. Additionally, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were directed to collaborate with local leaders and vigilante groups. This coordinated effort seeks to prevent herders/farmers clashes and other potential threats.
Furthermore, CP Giwa reinforced the importance of discipline among officers, referencing guidelines from the Inspector-General of Police. He warned that negligence would not be tolerated, urging supervisors to uphold strict oversight. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations will oversee tactical deployments in volatile zones.
In his Democracy Day message, CP Giwa expressed optimism about Nigeria’s democratic journey despite current challenges. He called on citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately. The Command provided emergency contact numbers—08032003702 and 08086671202—for prompt response.
As Enugu residents prepare to celebrate, the police reassure them of their commitment to peace and order. These measures reflect a dedication to safeguarding lives and property while fostering unity. Ultimately, the Command’s efforts aim to ensure a joyous and incident-free Democracy Day for all.
