‘Evacuate now’–Israel issues dire warning to Gazans

Tensions escalated in Gaza on Sunday, June 29, 2025, as Israel ordered mass evacuations in northern areas ahead of intensified military operations.

The Israeli military instructed residents in Gaza City and Jabalia to move south toward Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis.

Israel said this zone was designated for humanitarian safety, but Palestinian officials insist nowhere in Gaza is truly safe.

The evacuation warning comes amid heavy overnight airstrikes that left at least 23 Palestinians dead, including women and children.

Israeli warplanes struck tent camps and homes, especially in Jabalia and Khan Younis.

Six people were reportedly killed in Jabalia, while five died in a strike near a tent camp in Mawasi.

Twelve others were killed in separate Israeli strikes and gunfire across the enclave, medics confirmed.

At Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, mourners gathered around the bodies of victims, some wrapped in white burial shrouds.

Zeyad Abu Marouf, whose children were among the dead, expressed grief and anger.

“They told us Mawasi was safe. Now three of my children are gone,” he told Reuters.

He appealed to Arab leaders and the global community: “End the injustice happening to us.”

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform early Sunday, calling for an immediate ceasefire.

“Make the deal in Gaza, get the hostages back,” Trump wrote, adding pressure to ongoing diplomatic efforts.

New ceasefire talks are being coordinated by Egypt and Qatar, with backing from the United States.

Arab mediators hope to end the war and secure the release of Israeli and foreign hostages.

Hamas has told mediators it is open to resuming talks but insists on a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

The militant group said remaining hostages will only be freed as part of a deal that ends the war.

Israel, however, maintains the war cannot end unless Hamas is disarmed and dismantled.

The war began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis and abducted 251 hostages.

Israel’s military response has since killed over 56,000 Palestinians, according to the Gaza health ministry.

Most of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents are now displaced and face dire humanitarian conditions.

Ceasefire hopes remain uncertain as military operations intensify and diplomatic channels scramble to prevent further bloodshed.
