Ex-Kogi deputy speaker dies in Abuja hospital

Mr. Enema Paul, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly is dead.

His death was confirmed in a statement by Mohammed Yabagi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Aliyu Yusuf.

Paul according to the statement died in the wee hours of Saturday at a private hospital in Abuja following an undisclosed illness.

The Speaker extended his condolences to Paul’s family, describing the late lawmaker as “a friend, temperate, humble, team-playing, committed lawmaker, and public servant.”

“The former Deputy Speaker was a man who exemplified a commitment to the unity of the state, having demonstrated a genuine desire to enhance pro-people legislation for overall development.

“He was also a devoted Christian who saw beyond religion and whose godliness and commitment to family values were unquestionable”, the statement reads.

However, the Speaker prayed for divine comfort for Paul’s immediate family, as well as for current and former members of the assembly, urging them to find the strength to bear the loss.

Paul, who represented Okura State Constituency in the 8th Assembly, stepped down as Deputy Speaker due to health concerns.

He was succeeded by Comfort Nwuchiola, the member representing Ibaji State Constituency
