Ex-PDP Chieftain Warns Obaseki Ahead Of Supreme Court Verdict

A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Omobude James Ifaluyi-Ogbeide, has cautioned Governor Godwin Obaseki to pay attention to the Supreme Court verdict on the September 28 governorship polls.

The PDP lost at the tribunal and its attempt to amend the tribunal’s record at the Court of Appeal also failed.

Ifaluyi-Ogbeide who last week raised alarm over plot by the PDP to sack Obaseki through the Supreme Court urged Governor Obaseki to be careful ‘for the PDP satanic plot not to come to fruition.’

In a press statement issued in Benin City, Ifaluyi-Ogbeide said the PDP’s attempt to amend the tribunal’s record has exposed the mole of the PDP in the Judges that presided over the tribunal.

According to him, “After I, guided by my conscience, belled the cat by exposing PDP’s indecorous ploy to swindle the entire Edo State, I observed some of the reactions that accompanied my damning revelations, and realised that PDP found solace in diversionary tactics to cover up their hellish scheme. The crux of my former party’s counterarguments did not lie in proving my revelations wrong. They lay in goading journalists to do things or reveal nuggets that might have compromised my safety. I may have developed a conscience, but I have not grown stupid.

“Again, I watched PDP exhibit a staggering aversion to wisdom by exposing their mole at the Election Petition Tribunal. When the respondents had given them such a great stomach upset by dismembering their petition at the Tribunal, which, to be frank, was put together with much avoidance of honesty and ingenuity, they had commenced a series of acts to set the stage for their Supreme Court joker.

“They formed an alliance with one of the Tribunal judges, after our efforts to win over the Chairman were impaled on his officious steadfastness to honesty and so-called principles. He (the mole) was not to try to deliver the judgement in our favour, that would have been ruinous; he was only to doctor bits of our candidate’s testimony, which, by this time, had already been given.

“With the right incentives, we had the records doctored, but in hindsight, it has become clear to me that the judge was the greater artful dodger. He knew that our attempts to adopt his record, doctored or not, would meet with stupefying failure and he accordingly played along and watched us dismissed at the Appeal Court, but even then, that would not distract the PDP who have banked their hopes on tweaking the judgement at the Court of Appeal.

“How is it that no one has asked how PDP knew that the judge in question’s record would differ from that of the tribunal Chairman’s. From where did the judge get his own record? By what diabolism did they hope to pilfer the public’s presence of mind and adopt the odd record as that, which was correctly documented?

“The answer to the latter question is that they did not hope it would happen. They already knew they would lose at the Court of Appeal. All that showmanship and grandstanding to make it seem like they were doing something, albeit wrongly, was just a façade, a ruse.

“The judgement will be out, and rightly so in favour of Obaseki. He must not celebrate as he did the first time. He must pay attention to the Supreme Court instead where PDP will still go, and ensure that their satanic plot, which I exposed earlier, does not come to fruition. I did not abandon PDP for the heck of it. I was a Benin man before I became a PDP aficionado, and I think it behoves me to stay with what is relatively right. Ize-Iyamu would and could not have done the things I see Obaseki doing”.
