The leadership of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), has officially commenced the de-escalation of Biafra agitation across the Southeast region. The process started four months ago, Newsband authoritatively gathered.
The de-escalation according to inside sources in the movement, is part of the condition given by the government for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

Though, the self-acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, Simon Ekpa appears to be on a different page with the leadership of the separatist group, as his actions have continued to jeopardize the entire process.
Ekpa who was sacked as radio Biafra anchorman last year, has been in a running battle with the leadership of IPOB which however, resulted to the internal coup he masterminded with some aggrieved members of the movement in US.
The palace coup toppled Chika Edoziem led DOS (Directorate Of State — The highest decision making body of IPOB).
Meanwhile, IPOB on several occasions accused the Finland based propagandist and rabble rouser of being behind the activities of the ragtag gunmen, killing, terrorising and enforcing the counter-productive sit-at-home in the Southeast.

The inside source that spoke with Newsband said, “Efforts are been made to seek for Kanu’s release but part of the condition given by the government is the outright de-escalation of Biafra agitation. IPOB leadership and Nnamdi Kanu’s family accepted this offer.
“But Simon Ekpa is sabotaging the de-escalation process through his actions. He is using some group of criminals to cause problem under the guise of enforcing sit-at-home which has been banned by IPOB and this is not going down well with the powers that be.
Newsband also gathered that as part of it’s effort to speed up the de-escalation process in the Southeast region, Nnamdi Kanu during the last court appearance, had to address his followers directly, urging them to maintain peace and tranquility in the region. This move was to kick Ekpa to a very helpless corner.
IPOB Newsband further gathered, has started the decommissioning of Eastern Security Network (ESN). “They have been directed to submit their arms and return home”, a former commander of the group privy to the development told this paper.

Clandestine and decisive measures are been taken by the leadership of the secessionist movement in order to align itself to the advice of the Igbo leaders fronting for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
These measures are randomly taken to avoid infuriating some of it’s members who may see it as an act of sabotage and betrayal.
