Nollywood actress and presenter Ezinne Jane has praised Abia State Governor Alex Otti, following reports of the state government’s ₦1 billion support for teachers.

In a video circulating on social media, the actress expressed admiration for the governor’s approach to governance, particularly the reported consistency in salary payments and the impact of his administration on public school teachers.

Addressing Otti directly, Jane said, “This video is for Governor Alex Otti. How dare you? How dare you dare to be different? How dare you pay salaries consistently?”

She went on to share a personal account involving her mother, whom she described as a teacher from a poor background who now serves as a principal in her village.

According to Jane, the changes she has witnessed in her mother’s financial circumstances have been particularly meaningful. She said her mother can now pay her bills and maintain savings, allowing her to enjoy greater financial stability.

“How dare you turn my mother, who is a poor teacher, now a principal in my village, and make her a woman who can now boast of having savings after paying her bills?” she asked.

Her remarks highlighted the importance of regular salary payments to public servants, especially teachers whose earnings often support entire households. For many workers, receiving salaries consistently can make it easier to meet basic expenses, plan for the future and build financial security.

The reported ₦1 billion support for teachers has also drawn attention to the state government’s efforts concerning the education sector. However, further details about the funding, including its distribution, eligibility requirements and intended beneficiaries, would help clarify how the initiative is expected to benefit teachers across Abia State.

Jane’s reaction has resonated with the broader conversation about governance and the everyday experiences of public sector workers. By focusing on her mother’s circumstances, the actress framed the issue not simply as a government policy but as a matter affecting the financial well-being and dignity of individual families.

While her comments reflect her personal experience and assessment of Otti’s administration, the response to the reported initiative is likely to depend on its implementation and the extent to which teachers across the state experience similar improvements.

For Jane, however, the ability of her mother to pay her bills and save money represents a meaningful change—one she believes deserves recognition.
