Liverpool were in flying form

The FA Cup third round saw several exciting matches on Saturday, with Liverpool and Chelsea cruising into the next round with convincing wins.

However, the biggest upset of the day came when Plymouth Argyle, who sit bottom of the Championship, defeated Premier League side Brentford 1-0.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot made eight changes to his team, but the Reds still dominated fourth-tier side,Accrington Stanley, at Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was named captain for the match, scored a stunning strike to double Liverpool’s lead after Diogo Jota had opened the scoring.

Jayden Danns and Federico Chiesa added two more goals in the second half to seal a comfortable 4-0 win for Liverpool.

The strike was Chiesa’s first goal for The Reds.

Chelsea’s 5-0 Thrashing of Morecambe

Chelsea also had an easy day, thrashing Morecambe 5-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Felix was the star of the show, scoring twice, while Tosin Adarabioyo also netted a brace.

Christopher Nkunku made up for missing an early penalty by scoring his 13th goal of the season.

Plymouth’s Upset Win Over Brentford

The biggest upset of the day came when Plymouth Argyle defeated Brentford 1-0 at Griffin Park.

Morgan Whittaker scored the winning goal nine minutes from time, giving Plymouth a surprise victory over the Premier League side.

Other Results

Nottingham Forest continued their excellent season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Luton.

Brighton were 4-0 winners at Norwich, while Bournemouth shrugged off the loss of two strikers to injury and came from behind to beat West Brom 5-1.
