A devastating incident has shaken the Ogale community in Rivers State, Nigeria, where six family members were found dead in their apartment on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
The victims, identified as Obele Theophilus, his wife Eunice, their children Saka, Peace, and Nyimenka, and a relative Abel Nwaka, were discovered lifeless by neighbors who forced open the door after they failed to respond to repeated knocks.
Preliminary investigations suggest possible generator fume poisoning as the cause of death, with reports indicating the generator was left running in the parlour.
The police have launched an investigation, and the bodies have been taken to the mortuary for autopsy.
The community is in mourning, with residents describing the family as quiet and well-known. Authorities are urging caution and advising residents to ensure proper ventilation when using generators.
