Fani-Kayode met bail conditions but still held by EFCC – aide

Fani-Kayode's aide says he met bail conditions but still held by EFCC

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has met his bail conditions but still being held by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), his media aide, Jude Ndukwe said.

Fani-Kayode is a former minister of aviation and the director of media and publicity in the campaign organisation of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

The EFCC had charged Fani-Kayode alongside Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister, and Danjuma Yusuf with a 17-count charge bordering on unlawful retention, unlawful use and unlawful payment of money to the tune of N4.9 billion.

They were arraigned before a federal high court, sitting in Lagos, and consequently granted bail on July 4 to tune of N250 million.

In a statement, Ndukwe said the former minister is “waiting for the EFCC” to verify his bail documents before he would be released.

“He misses his family very badly, especially his five-month-old son Aragon, and he looks forward to coming home to be with his family, friends and loved ones,” the statement said.

Fani-Kayode, who was in EFCC detention for 62 days, remains confident, healthy and in high spirit, his aide said.
