Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has raised fresh concerns over the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He warned that without urgent reforms and strategic action, the party may collapse before the 2027 general elections, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.

Fayose described the PDP as being in a state of confusion and dangerously close to political irrelevance.

He cautioned that unless the party changes course, it may become only a shadow of its former self.

Once Nigeria’s dominant political party, the PDP is now struggling with internal disputes and weak grassroots connections.

The former governor said the PDP is failing to act as a strong opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated that the party no longer functions as a unified political force capable of challenging the current administration.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Fayose’s statements reflect the frustration among stakeholders within the PDP.

He emphasized that poor leadership, unresolved disputes, and lack of direction are undermining the party’s structure and public credibility.

Fayose insisted that unless urgent internal dialogue is initiated, the party could face further division and eventual collapse.

According to him, many loyal supporters are disappointed by the PDP’s silence and lack of clear political strategy.

He urged founding members, governors, lawmakers, and key stakeholders to come together and confront the challenges facing the party.

The former governor warned that denial and inaction would only worsen the current crisis and damage the party’s future prospects.

He noted that the PDP must stop pretending all is well and start making bold, honest changes.

Fayose called for the return of the PDP to its founding principles and grassroots-driven political engagement.

He urged unity among party leaders and demanded that personal interests be set aside for collective party progress.

He pointed out that continued infighting and factionalism would only lead to more political damage and weakened public support.

Fayose explained that the PDP lacks a clear political roadmap and has failed to offer real alternatives to Nigerians.

He said the party’s inability to mobilize public support is caused by disunity and uninspiring leadership.

Fayose maintained that reforms must be both immediate and inclusive, addressing structural, ideological, and leadership issues within the party.

He warned that the 2027 general elections may expose the full extent of the PDP’s weaknesses if no action is taken.

Fayose advised party members to stop internal blame games and focus instead on rebuilding public trust and electoral strength.

He said the APC’s shortcomings offer an opportunity for the PDP, if the party can unify and respond strategically.

The former governor stressed that honest dialogue, inclusive leadership, and bold decisions are necessary to rescue the party.

He also urged party leaders to engage grassroots supporters and rebuild relationships across the political landscape.

Fayose stated that failure to act now would be a betrayal of Nigeria’s democratic hopes and the PDP’s legacy.

He concluded by saying that silence and denial are no longer options for a party fighting for political survival.
