FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordered demolition of multi-billion Naira Praco Estate in Abuja despite court order

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has categorically denied widespread speculation regarding his health, asserting that he remains in excellent physical condition.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered during a media briefing on Sunday, January 19, 2025, Wike described the rumours as baseless and assured Nigerians that he has the vitality to effectively execute his ministerial duties.

In recent days, social media platforms have been rife with reports suggesting that the former Governor of Rivers State was flown to London on Thursday, January 16, 2025, for emergency medical attention.

The reports further claimed that his health condition was critical.

However, Wike refuted these claims, emphasizing that he has been actively fulfilling his responsibilities as the FCT Minister without any hindrance.

“God has given me good health, which is why I have the energy to do what I am doing.

If I were unwell, I wouldn’t be able to discharge my duties at this level,” Wike stated.

He expressed gratitude for his robust health, which he believes is a divine gift that enables him to serve the people effectively.

Supporting his claims, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, also dismissed the health rumours as unfounded.

Olayinka highlighted the impossibility of the timeline alleged in the reports.

According to him, Wike could not have been rushed to London for medical treatment on Thursday night and returned to Nigeria on Friday, January 17, 2025, to continue his official engagements.

Olayinka cited Wike’s presence at the Dape community in Life Camp, as well as his visits to Gishiri and Pigba Sama communities in Abuja on Friday.

He further mentioned Wike’s plans to commission several road projects in the FCT starting Monday, January 20, 2025.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Olayinka sarcastically questioned the logic behind the rumours.

“How can someone be flown to London for urgent medical treatment on Thursday night, return the next day to visit communities in Abuja, and still have a packed schedule for Monday?

These baseless claims only show the desperation of critics who constantly target the Minister,” he wrote.

Olayinka also criticized those spreading the rumours, pointing out that many of them neglect their own health while fixating on the well-being of a public official who is frequently seen carrying out his duties.

Wike, known for his hands-on approach and commitment to development, has remained in the spotlight since assuming office as FCT Minister.

His active engagement in public projects and interactions with communities across Abuja have drawn significant attention.

Despite the swirling rumours, he continues to forge ahead with his plans to improve the FCT, undeterred by detractors.

The clarification from Wike and his media aide underscores the Minister’s resolve to stay focused on his work and avoid distractions.

With his health in good condition, Wike is poised to continue leading transformative initiatives in the FCT.

The episode serves as a reminder of the power of misinformation in the digital age and the importance of verifying claims before circulating them.
