FCT Senator Leaks Shocking Land Fraud Linked to Wike’s Son

Senator Ireti Kingibe has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of serious abuse of office over shady land allocations in Abuja.

She claims the minister slashed a ₦200 million land fee meant for his son to just ₦2 million.

Speaking during an interview with Arise TV, Kingibe described the move as “unethical” and “unfair.”

She said, “I have documents showing that Minister Wike allocated vast lands to his son.

A bill of ₦200 million was due. His son requested a waiver. Within 48 hours, the bill was reduced to ₦2 million. At the very least, that’s unethical.”

Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory in the Senate, promised to escalate the issue. She vowed to take the documents to the appropriate authorities.

“I will go to the equivalent of his state assembly and call on the president who gave Wike his powers to send him back to the National Assembly for proper approval,” she added.

The senator also accused Wike of ruling the FCT with impunity. She alleged that the minister ignores legal processes and acts without checks.

“The minister doesn’t obey the rule of law,” she said. “He’s autocratic. When reminded that governance is based on laws, he doesn’t accept that.”

Kingibe slammed Wike for reinstating illegal agencies without involving the National Assembly. She also raised concerns over land revocations.

“University of Abuja had 11,000 hectares. Wike has taken 7,000 hectares and left only four. That violates the Land Use Act. You can’t seize land from institutions and hand it to individuals,” she said.

She also criticised the firing of local women who previously worked as street sweepers.

“He sacked all of them and didn’t replace them with street-cleaning machines. Now Abuja is looking dirty,” she added.

Kingibe further accused Wike of harassing embassies and residents over ground rent.

“Even foreign missions are not spared. He’s going after everyone over rent,” she claimed.

A report earlier by SaharaReporters backed her allegations. The Peoples Gazette had also revealed that Wike allocated over 2,000 hectares of prime Abuja land to his son, Joaquin Wike.

Sources said the minister bypassed key processes and ignored the payment of legal fees. These land deals reportedly took place in high-value areas like Maitama.

Wike, who served as governor of Rivers State before becoming FCT Minister in August 2023, has not responded to the allegations as of press time.
