Fear in Ibadan as Gunmen Abduct 60-Year-Old Trader

A 60-year-old building materials trader has been kidnapped in Ibadan, adding to growing security concerns in the area.

The incident happened on Sunday night around 8:47 p.m. in the Monatan axis along Alakia Road.

According to early reports, the man whose identity has not been disclosed—was on his way home when he was ambushed.

Police say four armed men, all masked, intercepted him and forced him into an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla without registration plates before speeding off.

Confirming the attack, Olayinka Ayanlade said officers moved quickly after receiving the report.

He noted that operatives visited the scene and immediately launched efforts to locate the victim and track down those responsible.

Authorities say search and rescue operations are ongoing, with security teams deploying available resources to secure the man’s release and bring the suspects to justice.

The police have also reassured residents that they are intensifying efforts to maintain safety in the area, even as investigations continue.
