Lagos, May 17, 2025 – The Federal Government has officially launched the Skills-to-Wealth Training Programme (S2W) in Oshodi, Lagos State.
Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, inaugurated the initiative to empower Nigerian youths.
Specifically, the programme offers vocational training in agriculture, renewable energy, and automobile repair.
Consequently, it aligns with the government’s strategy to reduce unemployment and boost economic growth nationwide.
During the event, Professor Yilwatda emphasized that S2W reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He stated, “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to poverty reduction and youth empowerment.”
Additionally, he urged trainees to maximize the opportunity by actively participating.
“Ask questions, practice daily, and build confidence,” he advised. Furthermore, he highlighted the programme’s focus on measurable progress rather than empty promises.

Importantly, it equips them with practical skills in high-demand sectors.
Private sector partners like CIG MOTORS are supporting the automobile repair track.
Moreover, the Minister praised CIG MOTORS for providing modern tools and technical expertise.
“Partnerships like this amplify our impact,” he remarked. He also encouraged other companies to offer internships and jobs to trainees.
Dr. Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, described S2W as a transformative initiative. He explained that it prepares participants for current and future job markets.
“This programme positions youths as innovators and entrepreneurs,” he said. Additionally, he urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity for economic independence.
Representing CIG MOTORS, Brigadier General Chukwu Emeka Fidelis Udaya (rtd) commended the Federal Government’s efforts.
He noted CIG’s decade-long investment in skill development.
Furthermore, he called for stronger government support to boost local manufacturing. “Tax incentives and infrastructure will enhance industrial growth,” he added.
Chief Diana Chen, CIG MOTORS Chairman, emphasized the company’s commitment to action.
“We provide not just training but also mentorship and jobs,” she stated.
Meanwhile, stakeholders like Mr. David Daser and Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan delivered goodwill messages.
Finally, Isa Abdullahi, Director of Poverty Reduction, thanked all partners and praised President Tinubu’s dedication to national transformation.
