Female Soldier dismissed for stealing N35 Million Jewellery belonging to Army General’s Wife

A female soldier, Lance Corporal Jonah Comfort, has been dismissed from the Nigerian Army for stealing gold jewellery worth N35 million from the wife of a senior army general in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria.
The dismissed combatant, with service number 15NA/74/4422F, committed the offence in May and sold the jewellery to a jeweller for N5 million.
Sources in the army revealed that Comfort had been monitoring the general’s wife before stealing the jewellery, which was part of a larger collection.
The army authorities have been cautious about the incident, as it raises questions about how the general’s wife acquired such valuable jewellery despite being a housewife.
The jeweller who bought the stolen jewellery has also been arrested by the military police.
This incident comes just days after three soldiers were dismissed for armed robbery and kidnapping.
The army authorities have taken swift action in both cases, charging and trying the soldiers according to the Armed Forces Act.
The dismissed soldiers have been handed over to the police for further prosecution.
