The Federal Government (FG) has launched a dedicated Passport Front Office to streamline services for senior public officials.

Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo inaugurated the facility in Abuja on July 10, 2025, addressing long-standing processing challenges.

During the event, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized how top officials previously squandered valuable work hours in passport queues.

He asserted, “Our leaders must not abandon national duties for bureaucracy.”

Moreover, the new office incorporates advanced technology from Iris Smart Technologies to provide swift and dignified service.

Additionally, the Minister commended the Nigerian Immigration Service for executing this solution with professionalism.

He proclaimed, “This establishes a new standard for efficiency,” highlighting that it would significantly reduce processing times.

Furthermore, this project aligns with President Tinubu’s extensive civil service reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Tunji-Ojo mentioned finding no dedicated passport facilities for officials upon taking office.

Consequently, he recognized the need for improvement in this area.

Today, we address that oversight, and this initiative represents a crucial first step in transforming public service delivery nationwide.

The Minister reaffirmed plans to modernize all government operations actively, emphasizing modernization’s role in improving efficiency and service.

Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani highlighted the facility’s strategic importance, ensuring seamless mobility for officials serving vital national interests.

She explained that the high-security office will process applications solely for eligible senior personnel, ensuring targeted service delivery.

Dignitaries, including Water Resources Minister Joseph Utsev, actively supported the government’s modernization efforts during the unveiling event.

In addition, immigration leaders and trade representatives participated in a guided tour, showcasing the office’s advanced biometric security features.

Observers believe this facility could serve as a model for specialized government services across Nigeria’s administrative sectors.

As reforms proceed, citizens eagerly await widespread improvements in passport processing, aiming for efficient, accessible service nationwide.

Ultimately, the project demonstrates how targeted, innovative solutions benefit leaders and citizens, fostering a more effective government.
