The Federal Government has launched the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) to improve the welfare and career development of staff in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Mrs Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to Boriowo, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, introduced the programme as a holistic support scheme designed to benefit both lecturers and non-academic personnel in higher institutions

The fund offers loans of up to N10 million to eligible staff, not exceeding 33.3% of their gross annual salary, for purposes like transportation, medical support, and micro-enterprise ventures.

The Bank of Industry will oversee disbursement to ensure transparency and accountability.

The initiative aims to promote financial stability, improve quality of life, and support career advancement for staff, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s plans to transform Nigeria’s tertiary education landscape.

Both lecturers and non-academic personnel in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria are eligible.
