FG set to resume Abuja light rail operations, as Minister visits site

The Federal Government has declared its intent to resume the Abuja Mass Rail Transit system operations which was boycotted after terrorists attacked one of the trains, killing eights passengers and abducting sixty-three others in the process.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, made this known following his visit to the Operation Control Center (OCC) of the rail system in Idu, Abuja.

During the visit, Malam Musa Bello, held a high-powered meeting with senior officials of the China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCECC).

Taking to his Twitter account to announce the intents, he said the visit is part of efforts geared towards the imminent resumption of operations of the Abuja Mass Rail Transit system.

Bello, during the visit wherein he held a strategic meeting with OCC and CCECC, was accompanied by very senior relevant officials of the Administration. Read more.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, following the visit, reads:
