The initiative, known as the Deal Room, was presented at the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. It is designed to connect investors with projects seeking funding across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The platform covers oil and gas, power, transport, manufacturing, mining, agriculture, technology, healthcare and urban services.

The government hopes the initiative will make it easier for investors to identify opportunities and engage directly with project sponsors.

Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso led the Nigerian delegation that presented the investment opportunities.

According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, the projects have a combined estimated potential to create 366,763 jobs, highlighting the government’s focus on using private investment to support employment and economic development.

The government is also highlighting investment incentives, including the provision for full foreign ownership in most sectors and the repatriation of capital and profits, subject to applicable requirements.

However, attracting the required funding will depend on investors’ confidence in Nigeria’s business environment, regulatory stability and the commercial viability of individual projects.

The government says the platform will provide project information, funding requirements and investment structures to help prospective investors assess opportunities and make informed decisions.
