*What to know about the FIFA Club World Cup

The FIFA Club World Cup is an international men’s association football competition organized by FIFA, featuring the top-division club champions of each confederation.

The tournament brings together the winners of the UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores, CONCACAF Champions League, CAF Champions League, AFC Champions League, and OFC Champions League, as well as the host nation’s national champion.

The competition has undergone several format changes since its inception in 2000. Initially, it was contested by the winners of the Intercontinental Cup and the host nation’s national champion.

In 2005, the tournament was revamped to feature the continental champions, with the CONMEBOL and UEFA representatives receiving byes to the semi-finals

The FIFA Club World Cup has been won by several top clubs, including Real Madrid, who hold the record for the most titles, and Manchester City, who are the current champions.

The tournament has also undergone changes in its hosting, with the 2025 edition set to feature 32 teams competing in a new format.
