Argentina has maintained their ace in the latest FIFA ranking, with Nigeria struggling at a distant 67th position.

With no A-international matches played in April, the May edition of the FIFA/Cola-Cola World Ranking provided a brief moment of security for teams eager to hold onto their top positions.

All teams in the Top 50 maintained their positions this month.

Meanwhile, the regional composition of said teams also remained unaffected since last month’s ranking.

For May, UEFA has 30 teams in the Top 50, CONMEBOL 8, CAF 7, CONCACAF 3, AFC 2 and OFC 0.

Kuwait’s forfeiture of their 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualification matches scheduled for March against Korea Republic and Laos were included in the calculation for the May Ranking.

Consequently Korea Republic moved into 54th (up 2) and Laos moved up 6 places into 176.

PHILIPPINES REACH PERSONAL BEST

The Philippines failed to qualify for the next round of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in the AFC region.

However, the Azkals get to celebrate a milestone in the May Ranking.

Thomas Dooley’s men moved up one rank this month to reach their best ever position on the FIFA/Cola-Cola World Ranking (115).

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 2 June 2016.
