Five killed as suspected herdsmen attack Benue community

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have killed five people in a fresh attack on Anter community, Mbalagh Council Ward in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was gathered that the assailants attacked the community on Tuesday evening, July 12.

The victims have been identified as Ave Usaar, Temanenge Kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.

According to Daily Trust, bodies of the first three victims have been found and buried while the search to recover the remains of the remaining two was ongoing.

The Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Security Matters, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (retd), who confirmed the incident said he received the reports of two persons killed in the community on Tuesday by armed herders.

Hemba said he was not yet aware of the killing of three other victims.
