Five Suspected IPOB Members Arrested By Soldiers In Abia

Five members of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB] have reportedly been arrested in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia state.

The pro-Biafra members were arrested by troops of Sub sector Bravo in conjunction with personnels of the Nigerian police.

ElombahNews gathered that the IPOB members were arrested by soldiers attached to the 14th Brigade of the Goodluck Jonathan Army Barracks, Ohafia, Abia State.

According to reports, the IPOB members disrupted church service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Abayi, Ariaria in Osisioma Local Government Area on Sunday, January 27.

Information shows that the IPOB members prevented a politician from the ruling PDP in the state from addressing the church.

The IPOB members insisted that they need a referendum than participate in the 2019 election in the state and other Southeast states.

Several attempts by the presiding priest, Reverend Father Nathaniel Oyedike to calm the situation failed as the group and some parishioners sang and chanted pro-IPOB songs.

The group also damaged the glasses of a PDP branded Sienna bearing the picture of the incumbent senator representing Abia Central and former Governor of the State, Theodore Ahamefule Orji.

The situation deteriorated until officers of the Abia State Police Command moved in and effectively salvaged the situation.
