Flood Kills 10 Residents, Displaces Many Others In Adamawa State

No fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed dead while scores were displaced due to flood after torrential rainfall in Adamawa State

According to Sahara Reporter, It was gathered that the torrential rain lasting over 15 hours caused destruction to lives and property in some parts of Girei Local Government Area of the state.
The Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Dr Suleiman Muhammad, also confirmed the incident on Friday.

Muhammad said that 10 persons were killed, while several others were displaced in Jabbi Lamba town and environs, following Thursday’s torrential rainfall recorded in the Girei Local Government Area and some parts of the state.

He said, “Six corpses have been recovered while four others are still missing. The natural disaster led to the hospitalisation of three kids after a building collapsed on them in the town.

“ADSEMA has since deployed its assessment team to the affected areas. We’ll reach out to the National Emergency Management Agency to visit the affected communities to ascertain the level of damage caused by the disaster.”
